I was very fortunate (once again) to shoot November’s Random Fridays event for the DLWP and East magazine. The fab event featured Pete Wareham & Leafcutter John and Juliet Russell & The Vocal Explosion Orchestra and of course Midori Hirano.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that Midori is on Flickr too :)
She kindly allowed me to do an impromptu photo shoot in between acts.
This image was originally taken a couple of years ago. I used to be a freelance photographer for our local paper and Battle & Brightling were part of my patch.
I got to know quite a few of the ex-servicemen and enjoyed covering their remembrance events.
At a recent seminar in London I was also very fortunate to catch John D McHugh’s take on ‘photojournalism on the frontline’.
John is a photojournalist/multimedia war reporter for the Guardian.
His blog is well worth checking out especially his dramatic account & compelling images of an ambush in Afghanistan when he was shot by insurgents.

At Monday’s MayDay Bike run I had the opportunity to hook up with Steve who is from the legendary 59 Club.
Steve and his buddy spent a lot of time telling me about the history of the 59 Club and advising me to take my camera up to the Ace Cafe in North London on a Friday night to see some real action.
This shot was taken as part of my ‘6 Bikers’ photo project and features in a short video clip complete with photos, text, musica & more!
